What does suspension parts do
Jul 28, 2020

As time passes, the suspension mounts of your car will experience damage due to usage and hence cannot freely rotate. If the motor of your car suddenly stops working, it can be a part of the suspension mounts. If the brakes are pressed hard, and the steering becomes numb, it can also be caused by this.

When the wheel is affected due to wear and so cannot freely spin anymore, the strut mount is no longer able to properly hold the wheel in place. If noises coming out of your motor or limber or wheel are heard when the car is working, it's advisable to repair and replace the top strut Mount, as well as the shocks and bearings applied on it. If there is rust build up, rust will be seen very easily on the underside of the strut mounts. However, this type of rust is difficult to clean up and will only last for a short while.

It is advisable to keep the Top strut mount for quite some time in a dry place, away from moisture and humidity. After this, you can place it in a room with high temperature to ensure the condition of it and its bearings is good. If the bearings are worn out, then you will need to replace them. If the wheels are not used for a long time, the condition of them will deteriorate and require a replacement.

If the shocks are worn, replacing them would be better than changing the shocks and changing the top strut mount. It is better to change the shock mounts if the shocks are not used for a long time, instead of replacing them as the shock mounts have a tendency to show wear on them.

The strut bars may require replacing or repairing, as they are often damaged and are no longer able to hold the car upright. These parts are normally located in the centre of the chassis, which is the area where the engine and the drive train fit in. If they are bent, you need to replace the strut bars.

The Top strut mount and the shock mounts will not be easily visible until the engine of your car stops and starts running after a while. They will have a metal plate that goes around the mounting brackets, which hold the wheels in place. If the shock mounts are damaged, replacing them is a much better option than replacing them all over again.
